Comrades, This month we are celebrating our nation's founding! A time when common people rose up to fight for the right to live freely, and their relentless spirits became engrained in the American culture we feel today. Warriors like yourselves volunteered to fight for the same freedom they did 248 years ago. I hope you all have a great day celebrating with your loved ones, Happy Independence Day!
We are kicking off this year at full speed. This month VFW National will be holding their National Convention, Camp Trotter is kicking off their summer camping season, and celebrating their 75th anniversary! There are many more events to keep an eye out for in the coming months.
Thank you all for your continued service to our communities. You all make a difference every day in the lives of veterans and their families.

VFW Post 2532 Continues Buddy Poppy Tradition
Members of a VFW Post in Paw Paw, Michigan, continue to keep the tradition of distributing Buddy Poppies to community members. VFW Auxiliary member Barb Alden said her husband, Jim Alden, commander of Post 2532 in Paw Paw, Michigan, and their grandson, Milo, were at a supermarket in town on May 5 for the Buddy Poppy drive.
“It was Milo’s first time giving out Buddy Poppies,” Alden said of the five year old. “When he first started, he was a little shy, but he warmed up to everyone. It was really exciting for him to be there. He loves his Papa Bear, and he is a very hard worker.” Read more on this story here.
