Over the past few months, your Department Officers and myself have been traveling across Michigan to a variety of events and celebrations. I am so encouraged to see your involvement in your communities, and relentless service to veterans and their families across Michigan. Your role is so important, especially during this time of year, when the holiday's bring both joy and memories of those missing from our midst. The love and joy you share could mean all the difference in someone's life this Christmas.
I wanted to remind you that our Mid-Winter Conference is coming up! I hope to see many of you there to celebrate our the hard work of our Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen program participants. Conference details are on our website!
I hope you all stay safe and have a Merry Christmas and joyous New Years. All of you, as VFW members, are leaders in many capacities. I'm proud to walk along side you as we continue to serve.

VFW members work to preserve Michigan Civil Battle Flag | |
"They knew if the confederates took that flag, they would take the heart and soul of their men,” Eric Calley said.
Muir-Lyons VFW Post 4646 and Ionia VFW David A. Huhn Post 12082 have teamed up in raising funds to restore the last known Michigan Civil War Flag on public display. Read more about this project and their fundraising gala event January 26, 2024 here. | | | |

Department launches series of digital communication workshops | |
The VFW Department of Michigan Social Media Team is hosting a series of Communication Workshops to help Post and Districts effectively organize and utilize their digital platforms.
If your Post or District could use training or assistance with both Social Media and Websites, please consider attending.
The first workshop will be hosted at VFW Post 423, Ann Arbor on Dec. 9 from 9 am-2:30pm. RSVP for the workshop here. | | | |
